Mission Figs

Mission figs are a wonderful fiber, potassium, calcium, and magnesium packed fruit!

Figs grow on the Ficus tree which is a cousin of the Mulberry tree.  Figs contain one of the highest concentration levels of calcium of any food.  They help ease digestion and also work great at dissolving mucus in the body.  Try them in your favorite recipes as a sweetener and taste the dense sweetness unfold.  They make a great addition to smoothies, muffins, cereals, and salads.

Raw Honey

Raw honey has not been heated, pasteurized, or processed…

The majority of honey found in stores today is not raw honey at all but rather a commercially made honey which has been pasteurized and heated at high temperatures following a rapid cooling process. Pasteurization kills all yeast cells and prevents fermentation in the honey. In addition, when heated the enzymes are mostly destroyed. Enzymes and the fermentation process aid in digestion and absorption into the body.

On the bright side, raw honey has not been heated, pasteurized, or processed. It is pure and unaltered directly from nature. Raw honey is an alkaline forming food. It does not ferment in the stomach and studies have shown it to rectify acid indigestion in some people. Raw honey is an energy packed whole food which contains amylase, an enzyme found in flower pollen which may aid in predigesting starchy foods. Raw honey is the nectar of flowers which has been pre-digested by bees making it readily available and easily absorbed by the body.

Suggestions for Use: Raw honey is a great sugar replacer. Try it in your tea or favorite smoothie. It is even delicious by the spoon full to quickly curb a sugar craving.

Dehydrated Apricots Benefits

Organic dehydrated apricots are rich in beta carotene, potassium, phosphorus, iron, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C.

Ever wonder why the organic dehydrated apricots are brown as compared to the supermarket orange color? Apricots which are NOT organic are treated with a chemical called sulphur dioxide before being dehydrated which preserves the orange color. This chemical process produces sulfites and has been shown to provoke breathing difficulty in some individuals.

Reach for the truly organic dehydrated apricots (brown in color) which are completely chemical free, natural, and a wonderful healthy snack. Research has shown apricots improve brain function due to a high content of magnesium and phosphorous.

Benefits of Kale

Research has found kale as one of the highest antioxidant potential plants known to man! Kale is in the same family of vegetables as the sulphur packed vegetables broccoli, cabbage, and collard greens and has been hailed as a super food.  Kale is very rich in vitamins A, C and K.  In addition, kale contains vital minerals such as manganese, calcium, iron, and potassium.

The Kale Chip and Understanding Dehydration: To preserve the enzymes, and keep vital nutrients intact dehydration at less than 115 degrees is vital.  The dehydrator pulls moisture out of the kale very slowly.  This slow process helps to preserve the shape of the kale as well as the live enzymes.  Any raw fruit, vegetable, sprouted nut, or seed can go through this process to create a great raw living snack.

Our Kale Chips are a great example of dehydration at its best.  Choose from ChiZee, Pizza, Ranch, and Sesame.  Enjoy!
