What is a Super Food?
These nutritional powerhouse foods are loaded with nutrients crucial to a healthy, long life. If you can include a variety of them in your diet everyday they will change your life! These foods contain high concentrations of crucial nutrients, as well as the fact that many of them are low in calories.
A superfood is a food rich in phytochemicals, which are special chemicals that have been noted to have disease-fighting properties. Phytochemicals can reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer, reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, or in some other way contribute to a person being healthier. When foods are high in these phytochemicals, they may be eaten not only because they taste good, but because they are good for you too.
There are a number of superfoods, many of them derived from vegetables or fruit. Surprisingly, there are a few superfoods that wouldn't be things you'd normally just sit down and eat alone. For instance, cacao is considered a superfood because it contains flavinoids, which have antioxidant properties. But Cacao Nibs can be used as a snack or add them to your smoothies, yogurt, trail mix, or salad as a great antioxidant and energy snack. Check out the front lobby for our Cacao Nibs! Certified Organic Truly Raw Cashews!
Our Truly Raw Cashews are naturally good for you! First, they are high in beautifying oleic acid, also found in raw, ripe olives and stone crushed, extra virgin olive oil. Also, these truly raw, certified organic cashews are an excellent source of magnesium and manganese, and a high amount of selenium and zinc. The magnesium in raw cashews strengthens digestion and improves flexibility, while manganese and selenium both work to rid the body of harmful oxidized cholesterol. Zinc is crucial for enzyme formation and reproductive health, making raw, organic cashews a valuable live food to add to any meal.
Cashews are a natural beauty food. With their high content of oleic acid and concentrated amounts of minerals, these creamy, smooth cashews combine perfectly with coconut oil and fresh, raw aloe vera gel. All these foods support skin health, and work simultaneously to build immunity and improve digestion.
The traditional hand-processing used to reveal the true flavor of these raw, organic cashews is a labor of love that has nearly disappeared. Traditional producers on average can prepare only 2 kilos (4.4 pounds) of raw kernels per day. The difference in flavor between raw and conventionally processed cashews is unmistakable.

Cacao & Cacao Nibs Give You the Benefit of Real Chocolate!
Cacao (also called cocoa) is chocolate in its raw form, still unknown to many because once cooked, refined or processed, its properties are lost. Due to its rich mineral content and unique and varied properties, the raw cacao bean is one of nature's most amazing SuperFoods. Cacao contains no sugar, dairy or chemicals, and, contrary to popular opinion, cacao is a poor source of caffeine. A typical sample of cacao nibs (bits of cacao bean) or cacao beans will yield anywhere from zero caffeine to 1,000 parts per million of caffeine: less than 1/20th of the caffeine present in coffee.
Why is Cacao so good for you?
Cacao is a great source of magnesium, iron, chromium, anandamide, theobromine and antioxidants (including 30 polyphenols, catechins, and epicatechins). Here's why:
Magnesium: Magnesium helps support the heart, brain, and digestive system (it fights constipation). It balances brain chemistry, builds strong bones and is associated with more happiness. Cacao contains enough magnesium to help reverse magnesium deficiency.
Iron: Cacao contains 314% of the U.S. RDA of iron per 1 ounce (28 g) serving. Iron is part of the oxygen carrying protein, hemoglobin, located in our blood. Chromium: Chromium is an important trace mineral that helps balance blood sugar. Nearly 80% of Americans are deficient in this trace mineral. Cacao can help reverse chromium deficiency.
Anandamide: Anandamide, also known as the The Bliss Chemical, is an endorphin that the human body naturally produces after exercise. Anandamide has only been found in one plant, cacao. Cacao contains enzyme inhibitors that decrease our bodies' ability to breakdown anandamide. This means that when we eat cacao, natural anandamide and/or cacao anandamide, it may stay for a while in the body, making us feel happier longer.

Theobromine: Cacao contains about 1% theobromine. Theobromine is an effective anti-bacterial substance that kills streptococci mutans, the primary organism that causes cavities. Theobromine is a chemical relative of caffeine but does stimulate the nervous system. Instead, it dilates the cardio-vascular system making the heart's job easier. This is one of the major reasons why cacao is an important part of a heart healthy diet.
Antioxidants: Cacao contains the highest concen-tration of antioxidants of any food in the world. These antioxidants include polyphenols, catechins, and epicatechins. By weight, cacao has more antioxidants than red wine, blueberries, acai, pomegranates, and goji berries combined.
Benefit from Cacao by ordering the Joyful Spirit Smoothie or the very popular Macadamia Nut Brownie! Both include Cacao as an ingredient. Take home some Cacao Nibs to add to trail mix and other raw food recipes. Transform your chocolate cravings into a healthy experience!
Organic Goji Berries - SuperFood of China
Our Organic Goji Berries are a deep-red, dried fruit about the same size as a raisin. The goji berry tastes a little like a cross between a cranberry and a cherry. Although new to Western cuisine, the Chinese have recognized the special properties of goji berries for thousands of years.
Traditional Chinese Medicine names the goji berry as the number one food-herb out of 8,000 food herbs listed. This is quite a feat for a small berry roughly the size of a raisin!
Our organic goji berries grow in the million-year-old soil of the wild and cultivated valleys of China. The bush-like plants produce vines that reach over 15 feet. When harvested, the fresh berries are never touched by hand as they will oxidize and turn black. The berries are shaken onto mats and then dried in the shade.
What nutrients are found in Goji Berries?
- Goji berries are perhaps the most nutritionally-rich fruit on the planet. They taste delicious and are well-balanced for nearly all body types and metabolisms.
- Goji berries are a complete protein source. They contain 18 different amino acids (on par with bee pollen) and contain all 8 essential amino acids (such as isoleucine and tryptophan).
- Goji berries contain up to 21 trace minerals (the main ones being zinc, iron, copper, calcium, germanium, selenium, and phosphorus).
- Goji berries also contain vitamins B1, B2, B6, and vitamin E.
- Mature berries contain roughly 11 mg of blood-building iron per 100 grams, beta-sisterol (an anti-inflammatory agent), linoleic acid (an essential fatty acid), anti-aging sesquiterpenoids (cyperone, solavetivone), antioxidant tetraterpenoids (zeaxanthin, physalin), and liver-healing betaine (0.1%).
- About 36% of the sugars found in Goji berries are polysaccharides, which fortify the immune system. A polysaccharide found in this fruit has been found to be an anti-aging secretagogue.
- The decreasing levels of HGH have been linked to symptoms of aging. Goji berries are the only food known to help stimulate the human body to produce more HGH naturally. This factor alone makes the goji berry perhaps the world's greatest anti-aging superfood.
Goji berries are also one of the highest antioxidant containing foods in the world. Goji berries typically contain 2-4 times the amount of antioxidants found in blueberries.

Goji Berries are perhaps the fruit with the most nutrition on the planet!
How to Use Goji Berries?
- Use goji berries as you would any other dried fruit, they're great as a snack and also in recipes.
- Cacao and goji berries go particularly well together.
- Their combined antioxidant content makes cacao and goji berries excellent air travel snacks.
- Mix organic goji berries with cacao nibs, raw cashews and other dried fruits, nuts and seeds to make a goji trail mix.
- You can blend dried goji berries into smoothies, juices and elixirs.
- Goji berries can be soaked and rehydrated in water.
- Goji soak water makes for a wonderfully hydrating beverage and can also be used as a soup stock.
- One handful of goji berries (about 15-45 grams) is a reasonable daily ration.
- Goji berries are an excellent tea additive. Throw 10-15 goji berries into your next cup of tea and notice how they take the harsh bitter edge off medicinal herbs and how they accentuate and synergize all the tea ingredients. Try simply drinking goji berry tea all by itself!
